The Swinging ’Gates is Colgate's only all female a cappella group. The ’Gates was founded in 1974 by a group of courageous women seeking to share their beautiful voices. Comprised of 17 members ranging from first-year students to seniors, this group is a student-run, non-profit organization that reflects the hard work and dedication of all the women involved.
The Resolutions, or "Resos" as they like to be called, are students brought together by a common goal: to bring a cappella music to the Colgate community. The Resos are Colgate's oldest gender inclusive a cappella group and pride themselves on their diversity of talents, musical backgrounds, musical tastes, and personalities. The Reso repertoire includes everything from pop to electronic to indie to classic rock, and grows every semester as members craft original arrangements of their own personal favorites. They perform a diverse array of songs from David Bowie, to Jack Johnson, to Carole King, to the Rolling Stones. Each year, they travel across the Northeast on their JanTour and are so excited to be stopping in Boston on their way.
