Dining Services Updates

Dining Services has announced several new initiatives and improvements for fall 2024, designed to enhance the student dining experience, including membership bonuses for juniors and seniors and new offerings at various facilities on campus.

Career Development

Colgate’s Four-Year Career Development Plan is curated to progress with students as they explore and experiment. By design, it will help students reach important milestones. Career Services is a partner to your student each step of the way. As students clarify their goals, their advisers — dedicated practitioners and industry specialists — guide and support them in the steps they take to explore and test their interests.

Whether your student is a rising sophomore, junior, or senior, encourage them to check out the Career Development page and begin connecting with Career Services early in the fall semester.

Family members are welcome to sign up to receive the weekly What's Going On email.

Living Writers: A Passion for Reading Is the Only Prerequisite

Since 1980, Living Writers has been an on-campus course for Colgate undergraduates. Since 2010, it's also been a self-paced program for alumni and parents. Our 2024 lineup has something for every reader: stories, novels, poems, memoirs, and even comics. For details and to sign up for weekly emails in the fall, visit the Living Writers page or write to livingwriters@colgate.edu.

Summer Prep for Fall Semester

The summer before year two, three, or four of college is less stressful than the first year, but there are still things to do to prepare for the return to campus. Vicki Nelson’s Collegiate Parent article “Summer Prep for Fall Semester” shares 10 summer action items and game-changing conversations for family members to have with their returning students.

Books for Families With College Students

This list of books was recommended by the parent program professionals of AHEPPP: Family Engagement in Higher Education; while some are geared towards incoming families, several cover important topics through the college experience.
