November Move-out

As previously announced, student residences close at noon on Sunday, November 22, for Thanksgiving recess, with the final weeks of the fall semester taking place with virtual instruction beginning Monday, November 30.

Students must register their departure date and time as well as mode of departure. Times are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and choices will be removed as time slots reach capacity, so encourage your student to register as soon as possible if they haven’t already.

The extended departure period of November 18–22 and new registration process will facilitate physical distancing and provide traffic control during move out.

A reminder: guests are not permitted in student residences during the move-out process. Students were sent a move-out checklist to complete prior to leaving campus.

A few reminders:

  • Guests are not permitted in student residences during the move-out process (students were sent a move-out checklist to complete prior to leaving campus).
  • Those on campus who will be returning to campus do not need to take everything with them, but students should take home all essential belongings, including any technology they may need. Because global and national conditions may change throughout the break, it is important that everyone be prepared for a scenario that could disrupt in-person learning on campus for the spring.
  • Students on campus now who will shift to remote learning in the spring must pack and remove all their belongings. Individuals will assume responsibility for moving or storage costs if they do not return to campus for the spring semester.
  • Students seeking to sell textbooks prior to departure may do so through the Colgate Bookstore online.
  • During the move-out timeframe, students are permitted to use personal vehicles.
  • Additional departure details may also be found online.

Updates From Campus

Career Resources Toolkit

Career resources are available to students at any time — no need to wait until for an advising appointment or workshop. The Career Services Toolkit features online guides and videos to help Them write their résumé and cover letter, prepare for networking or interviews, and more.

Mindfulness and Wellness Programs

Is your student feeling stressed? The campus calendar lists a whole variety of sessions promoting, teaching, and facilitating meditation — along with other types of wellness events and programs at a variety of times of day and evening. Suggest they give one a try!

Student Peer Listening Space

The ALANA Cultural Center is organizing a recurring opportunity for students to share perspectives, feelings, and voting and election experiences. These peer listening spaces will be held over Zoom on Wednesdays (10/28, 11/4, 11/11, 11/18) from 7 to 8 p.m. Students can email alana@colgate.edu for the Zoom link.
