President Casey Featured in National Public Health Campaign

A new national public health effort created to foster vaccine education and to combat misinformation has selected Colgate President Brian W. Casey as one of the leaders featured in the group’s social media awareness campaign. Dubbed ‘Count Me In,’ the education project features dozens of leaders from business, media, healthcare, and education, providing individuals and organizations with information to build confidence in authorized COVID-19 vaccines, and to motivate and inspire people to collectively fight the pandemic.

Insight on COVID-19 Vaccines

Last week, for the benefit of the Colgate community, University physicians Dr. Merrill Miller and Dr. Ellen Larson '94, and professor Geoff Holm, a virologist and co-chair of Colgate’s Task Force on Reopening the Campus, participated in a discussion about COVID-19 vaccine science and the vaccination process. As moderator Laura Jack, VP of Communications, described, “Dr. Larson put the perfect bow on an insightful chat. I asked when everyone thought life would return to normal, and she said, ‘Longer than we want, but hopefully sooner than we think.’”

Break Day Added to Spring Calendar

The Student Government Association recently submitted to the Academic Affairs Board a “Resolution to Alter the Currently Established Days Off” to promote student welfare. After giving careful consideration and attention to the resolution and to the voices of the elected body, including students, the Academic Affairs Board voted to add a third break day to the spring 2021 academic calendar: Tuesday, April 13.

Congratulations to Women’s Hockey

Women's Hockey players celebrating

Colgate captured its second ECAC Hockey women’s regular season championship in the last four seasons. The Raiders fashioned a 13-6-1 overall record and were 8-4-0 in ECAC play despite COVID-related stops and starts throughout. But Colgate persevered, and now the Raiders will host the conference semifinals this Friday on ESPN+ against an opponent to be determined. Colgate also would host Sunday’s championship game, should the Raiders advance.
