COVID-19 Vaccine Update
|
We have received several questions from family members regarding New York’s evolving COVID-19 vaccine eligibility rules and opportunities for students to be vaccinated.
Beginning April 6, 2021, all New Yorkers 16 years of age and older — including college students studying within the state — will be able to schedule vaccination appointments.
Last week, Colgate began distributing COVID-19 vaccines on campus for those community members who qualify under New York State’s phased rollout plan.
The University only receives so many doses at a time, so we are also offering a shuttle to clinics at locations in nearby Morrisville (reservation required beginning April 2). The Madison County Department of Health website offers information about scheduling appointments at other clinic locations.
We are regularly telling students about vaccination opportunities through the Colgate Together Digest (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays) and other campus broadcast emails; please encourage your student to remain tuned in.
Students looking to schedule a vaccine appointment are advised to keep in mind potential conflicts between the date for any necessary second dose and when they will be departing campus for the semester.

Academic Year 2021–22 Planning
|
President Brian W. Casey has announced the University’s plan to return to fully in-person, residential instruction this August.
“We should, however, note that ‘normal’ in the fall of 2021 will likely be a new normal,” said Casey. “We are likely to see some necessary precautions put into place, based on local and national guidance, pandemic conditions, distribution of vaccines, and other considerations that we cannot yet anticipate. In the short term, our plans could evolve.” The final plan will be contingent upon New York State and local guidelines and measurements of health through our internal health metrics.
The plan includes adherence to the original 2021–22 academic calendar, with no modification to arrival dates, breaks, recesses, or campus departures. Classes will begin on Thursday, August 26. For additional information, read his full announcement.
