The Six Ingredients of Resilience

We are born resilient and as we move through life our capacity for resilience is urging us up, dusting us off and helping us go again. In the Collegiate Parent article “What Is Resilience and How Do We Cultivate It?,” Adina Glickman shares six consistent ingredients of resilience.

Campus Updates

Fall Course Registration

Course registration for the Fall 2022 term is April 4–6. The registration schedule is based on class year and last name. Students may register anytime during or after their assigned time via the Colgate Portal. Registration will remain open through June 10. Students are responsible for setting up a meeting with their academic adviser to discuss course selection and obtain their registration PIN.

The registrar’s office webpages provide students with helpful information on the process, including video tutorials.

Pre-Summer Career Development Check-In

Before your student wraps up the academic year, they are highly encouraged to meet with one of our professional career advisers to create a personalized action plan for the summer. Advisers can introduce students to new industries, help them develop compelling application documents, teach networking and interviewing skills, and help them think through skills or experiences they may want to add to their portfolio this summer. Appointments are available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., and can be scheduled by visiting

Face Time with Campus Safety

Students can visit informally — and nosh on tacos and other light refreshments — with Colgate’s campus safety team on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30–7:30 p.m. in the Coop lounge. This is an opportunity for students to engage with the staff and talk about whatever is on their minds. Conversation themes come from topics suggested through an online survey sent to students.

Morning Reflection

The Colgate chaplains invite the community to gather for sacred pause and brief encounters with the diverse religions and spiritual and secular practices represented in our community. All are welcome, every Wednesday morning for 15 minutes of music, a reading or prayer, and brief reflection, led by a member of the Colgate community. Learn more and view the spring lineup of speakers.

Peer Coaching

Through Colgate’s new peer coaching program, students can schedule 1:1 appointments with a fellow student who is trained to talk with them about challenges they're facing or changes they are looking to make. Sessions might include topics such as stress or time management, sleep hygiene, loneliness, or isolation. The program is offered through the Shaw Wellness Institute in collaboration with the Office of Counseling and Psychological Services and Chapel House.

Public Health

Given our current pandemic status, the Colgate Together Digest has become an as-needed publication moving forward. In related COVID-19 news, the Health Analytics Team has launched a new, streamlined COVID-19 dashboard.

2021 1098-T Tax Form

As required by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Form 1098-T is prepared annually with Colgate’s partner Heartland ECSI for all students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents with qualified tuition and other related educational expenses for the calendar year considered. The form is made available by mid-February each year for the prior calendar year and sent electronically (if consented to) or by hard copy to a student’s permanent address. Visit the Insurance Information and Tax Service section of the Student Accounts page for details, including how to access a copy of your student’s 1098-T form.

The Colgate Office of Student Accounts is happy to help if you have any questions or concerns: or 315-228-4817.
