Dining Services News

For juniors and seniors, Dining Services is offering, for a limited time, membership bonuses for the new purchase of a 2022–23 dining membership:

  • With purchase of a Maroon Plan (8-meal plan): a ’Gate Plan (10-meal plan).
  • With purchase of the Raider Plan (70 block): an additional 10 meal swipes.

Juniors and seniors living in traditional residences are required to purchase the Premier Plan. Those living in suites and apartments, or off campus, may opt to purchase a meal plan.

Family Weekend 2022, October 21–23

Save the Date! We look forward to welcoming families to campus October 21–23, 2022, for Family Weekend. Details will be released early in the fall semester.  Until then, you can research lodging options on the Hotels & Accommodations page.

Living Writers

Parents and family members are welcome to take part in Colgate’s Living Writers community reading series: talking about remarkable books, then meeting the authors when they come to campus — join in person or online! This year’s books include works by Colgate faculty members (Kyle Bass’s Possessing Harriet and CJ Hauser’s The Crane Wife, which Time calls one of the hottest releases of summer) as well as your student’s summer reading assignment, Imbolo Mbue’s How Beautiful We Were.

The Mbue book is also the Community Summer Read, a daily Twitter read (10-20 pages per day) that started on Thursday, July 21. On Monday, Aug. 8, join in for a faculty-led Zoom book discussion from 7-8 p.m.

These programs are free and open to all.

Summer Prep for Fall Semester

The summer before year two, three, or four of college is less stressful than the first year, but there are still things to do to prepare for the return to campus. Vicki Nelson’s Collegiate Parent article “Summer Prep for Fall Semester” shares 10 summer action items and game-changing conversations for family members to have with their returning students.

Books for Families With College Students

This list of books was recommended by the parent program professionals of AHEPPP: Family Engagement in Higher Education; while some are geared towards incoming families, several cover important topics through the college experience.
