Rebecca S. Chopp, PhD, is an Alzheimer’s activist and educator. After retiring in 2019 due to an Alzheimer’s diagnosis, Chopp co-founded Voices of Alzheimer’s. Today, she serves as a member of the Early Stage Advisory Board of the national Alzheimer’s Association, and is a member of the board of the Colorado Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. Chopp is a frequent speaker and writer on timely diagnosis, research for a cure, access and affordability of drugs, and lifestyle intervention for those with Alzheimer’s.
Before Chopp’s diagnosis, she was a widely published author and editor, an ordained minister, and a renowned academic in the fields of education, philosophy, religion and feminism. Chopp served as the 18th, and first female, chancellor of the University of Denver. She has served in leadership positions at Swarthmore College, Colgate University, Emory University and Yale University. Since retiring, Chopp devotes every day to living with joy. She enjoys painting classical portraits and abstracts, hiking with her dog, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
