Alumni and guests are invited to join Robert McVaugh, Colgate professor of art and art history, for a lecture followed by a tour of the Jasper Johns exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Few artists have shaped the contemporary artistic landscape like Jasper Johns. With a body of work spanning seventy years, and a roster of iconic images that have imprinted themselves on the public’s consciousness, Johns at ninety-one is still creating extraordinary artworks. This vast, unprecedented retrospective—simultaneously staged at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York—features a broad range of paintings, drawings, prints, and sculptures from 1954 to today, by one of the greatest artists of our time.
2:00 p.m. | Lecture with Professor McVaugh
3:15 p.m. | Self-guided Tour of Jasper Johns Exhibition (Professor McVaugh will be available for questions)
*Attendees may choose to get lunch on their own before the lecture at Stir Restaurant in the Philadelphia Museum of Art from 11:30 a.m.-1:45 p.m. Individual reservations can be made by calling 215-684-7990.
This event costs $25 to attend, including the lecture, and tickets (for PMA members and non-members). There is limited ticket availability; please register early.
