Eight to Join Men's Hockey Lineup for 2020-21

Three Forwards, Four Defensemen, One Goaltender Round Out Class of 2024

HAMILTON – An eight-player first year class is slated to join the Colgate men's hockey program for the upcoming 2020-21 season, as announced by the coaching staff.

"We are thrilled to have eight student-athletes joining the Colgate Hockey family next season," the men's hockey staff said. "The first quality that stands out amongst them collectively is their high character and commitment to our school values. They all possess leadership qualities that will enrich the Colgate community."
 
Three forwards, four defenseman, and one goaltender join the 19 returners to the program from the 2019-20 campaign, where the Raiders garnered a 12-16-8 overall record along with an 8-9-5 mark in ECAC Hockey action.
 
"Individually, they each have a unique skill set - Their talent and experience will greatly complement our on-ice performance," the coaching staff said of the Class of 2024. "They have all demonstrated a commitment to work hard in order accomplish goals both in the classroom and on the ice. The combination of their high character, hockey skills, and work ethic have us very excited about what they can achieve during their time at Colgate. "
 
Colgate graduated eight players to the Class of 2020 and will have seven seniors leading the program for the upcoming season. The Raiders are coming off of a 2019-20 campaign where they clinched home ice in the ECAC Tournament, leading to the sweep of Brown to finish the season on a strong note. Over the course of the season, Colgate picked up points against six nationally ranked opponents during the season and competed internationally at the Friendship Four in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Most recently played for the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL … tallied 10 points by three goals and seven assists in 28 games played with Sioux Falls … previously totaled 60 points in 105 NAHL games played with the Minnesota Wilderness and Amarillo Bulls by four goals and 56 assists, along with a plus-17 rating on the ice … a two-time All-Conference hockey player at Orono High School … a native of Independence, Minnesota … shoots right.
 
Pierson Brandon
6-0 / 175 / Defense
Played junior hockey with the Aberdeen Wings of the NAHL … was the 2018-19 Central Division Regular Season and Playoff Champions with the Wings, earning a spot on the NAHL All-Rookie Team … named Defensive Player of the Year … totaled 53 points by 10 goals and 43 assists through 111 career games played with the Wings, while finishing his career with a plus-63 rating on the ice … a 2018 graduate of Irvington High School … a native of Irvington, New York … shoots left.
 
Elliott McDermott
5-11 / 196 / Defense
Played junior hockey with the Carleton Place Canadians of the CCHL … totaled 124 regular season games with the Canadians, marking 98 points by 27 goals and 71 assists … previously appeared in 137 regular season games with Upper Canada College varsity hockey, marking 59 points by 28 goals and 31 assists … a native of Kingston, Ontario … shoots left.
