On August 25, Colgate welcomed the Class of 2023 and their families to campus for first-year arrival day. For those family members who couldn’t attend, we’ve made the day’s sessions available via video.

Family Orientation: The ’Gateway Ahead

In addition to time for moving into residence halls, Arrival Day activities included an orientation hour for parents and family members. The start of the college experience is a transition time for both students and their families. What should families expect for their student, for themselves, and from the University during this period of adjustment? While students continue unpacking and meeting roommates, this program provides an overview of this transition, offers constructive ways to be actively involved in the process, addresses common questions, highlights first-semester events, and identifies valuable Colgate resources about which families should know.

Welcome to Colgate

Later that afternoon, at a gathering for students and their families, President Brian W. Casey and other leaders highlighted the accomplishments of the class and welcomed them to campus.
