Updates From Campus

Career Services

Prep for Tech (February 26–27) is an interviewing boot camp for students of all class years interested in computer science, software engineering, and programming-related careers. The weekend will include skill-development workshops and mock-interview sessions with computer science alumni. Students learn what top tech employers expect from candidates and how to be successful in technical and behavioral interviews. RSVP deadline is February 21.

A Message from the Counseling Center

Last week, counseling center director Dawn LaFrance sent students this winter greeting: “It has been a difficult time for everybody, and I have been impressed with your resilience. Yet, I am sure there are many students suffering in silence, and I ask you to reach out. Counseling and Psychological Services and Haven continue to have no wait lists; students are currently able to schedule an appointment within a week. We are available each day for crises and consultations. To keep our Commitment to Community Health, we have transitioned to a telehealth approach, and nearly 20 percent of students utilized our services in fall 2020. Students frequently note the progress they achieve in our group therapy program. Use your support system and this remarkable community to help you during this difficult time. I work with an amazing group of mental health professionals who want to help.”

New Dining Offering

The Colgate Inn has begun serving lunch at Merrill House on campus from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Students are welcome to partake of this new menu.

Staying on Track During Another Pandemic Semester: Focus Forward

It’s difficult to reframe challenges as opportunities when we still face an uncertain future. Parents can help students find a sense of purpose that can help them move from feeling stuck in this pandemic life to feeling productive. They can rediscover what it's like to have momentum and work to become “future ready.”

This article from Collegiate Parent — "Focus Forward” — is the final installment in their series Staying on Track During Another Pandemic Semester.
