Move to Gate 4
|
As of Monday, we moved to Gate 4, which has been adjusted by the Task Force on Reopening to match current New York State guidance more closely. We will continue to monitor the data in case they indicate a need to change course, but this move is a tribute to students’ Commitment to Community Health.
Certain elements of campus life remain unchanged, including restrictions on travel and guests, mask wearing, and the definition of a close contact. We will also continue to test 50 percent of the on-campus population every week for the next few weeks, at least.

COVID-19 Vaccine Update
|
Last week, students were asked to complete a confidential vaccination status survey. If they have yet to do so, the link can be found on the portal. This is an optional survey, but it’s quick, easy, and we’d appreciate family members encouraging their students to fill it out. The data from responses will be helpful as we make plans for our return to normalized operations this fall.

Senior Honor Society Class of 2022 Inductees
|
In 1934, two secret societies at Colgate, the Skull and Scroll and the Gorgon’s Head, resolved to end their rivalry and joined together to form the Konosioni Senior Honor Society. In light of information suggesting this name is disrespectful to Indigenous communities, and that there are more suitable ways to reflect the group’s commitment to service towards marginalized groups, the Class of 2021 elected to temporarily drop the word Konosioni from the organization’s name.
Nevertheless, the mission of the honor society remains unchanged. Its members strive to:
- Serve as responsible and respected leaders of Colgate, whether on campus or off;
- Inspire a connection to Colgate’s campus and the surrounding community by seeking to provide an interface between the community and students;
- Promote the charitable and philanthropic efforts of area organizations as peer-selected stewards of the greater Colgate community.
Today, the Colgate Senior Honor Society stands as a peer-selected group of 26 students, representing 13 members from each original society. These individuals have been recognized for their outstanding leadership, dedication to service, and preservation of tradition.
Congratulations and welcome to the Senior Honor Society Class of 2022:

Senior Class Move-out Deadline Correction
|
A correction from last Friday’s senior checklist message: All seniors who live on campus are expected to depart their residence by 8 p.m. (not 6 p.m.) on May 9. Special consideration for late departure past 8 p.m. will be granted to those with extenuating circumstances, with prior approval required; details will be shared in the coming weeks. Seniors have been advised to please make their packing and move-out plans accordingly, and take note that family members and guests will not be permitted inside residence halls.
